FAQ

About Aoki Matcha

What exactly is matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground powder of high-quality green tea leaves. You drink the whole leaf, which gives you more antioxidants, caffeine, and L-theanine than regular tea.

What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary matcha?

Ceremonial matcha is of the highest quality, meant to be drunk neat. Culinary matcha is slightly more bitter and perfect for recipes like smoothies or matcha lattes.

Where does your matcha come from?

Our matcha comes straight from East Asia – a region known for its centuries-old tea tradition.

Does matcha contain caffeine?

Yes, but thanks to the amino acid L-theanine, matcha provides a calm, long-lasting energy boost without the crash of coffee.

Preparation & Use

What is the best way to prepare matcha?

Use 1 gram of matcha (about 1/2 teaspoon) and 70–100 ml of water at 70–80°C. Whisk it with a bamboo chasen until frothy.

Can I combine matcha with milk or other drinks?

Absolutely! You can make a matcha latte with (plant-based) milk, or use it in smoothies, baked goods, or even ice cream.

How often can I drink matcha?

One to two servings daily is ideal. Build up gradually if you're sensitive to caffeine.
